Nourishing Meals for Kids in Brookfield
Welcome to a Culinary Journey at Edu Kids.
At Edu Kids Early Learning Centre, we believe that proper nutrition is the foundation for a child’s growth, learning, and happiness.
Our culinary philosophy is simple: serve freshly prepared, balanced meals every day, made with care in our on-site kitchens. From breakfast to late snacks, our seasonally inspired, four-week rotating menu provides the essential nutrients your child needs to thrive, all while introducing them to a world of delicious and healthy food.

Our Culinary Philosophy: A Recipe for Australian Excellence
Our approach goes beyond simply feeding children; it is a meticulously planned, chef-led program built on trust and professional expertise.
Every meal is crafted to meet the stringent Australian Dietary Guidelines for children aged 0-5 and the Victorian Government’s Healthy Eating Advisory Service guidelines. Our experienced on-site chef is committed to a “fresh from scratch” philosophy, using local, seasonal ingredients to ensure every dish is not only nutritious but also bursting with flavour.
To guarantee excellence, our menu is taste-tested by our staff, who receive complimentary meals, providing us with invaluable feedback. We are dedicated to minimising processed foods, additives, and preservatives, ensuring pure, wholesome nourishment for your child.
What's on the Menu? A Glimpse of the Goodness
Our menus evolve with the seasons, offering children the chance to explore new flavours and textures, and develop lifelong healthy eating habits. Here is a sample of our four-week rotating menu, highlighting how each dish supports your child's development.

An Unwavering Commitment to Safety and Standards
Your child’s safety is our highest priority. Our kitchen follows a comprehensive food safety program that not only meets the highest standards of the Victorian Food Act but also meticulously adheres to the National Quality Standard (NQS).
This includes:
- Regulation 79: Ensuring all food and beverages are nutritious, adequate in quantity, and appropriate for each child’s developmental, cultural, and health needs.
- Regulation 80: Displaying the weekly menu prominently for parents to view at all times, ensuring transparency and open communication.
This commitment is audited annually by both the local council and an independent Food Safety Auditor to ensure compliance and excellence, providing you with complete peace of mind.
Nourishment Beyond the Plate: Mealtimes as a Learning Experience
Mealtimes at Edu Kids are interactive experiences designed to teach children essential life skills and foster positive relationships with food.
- Family-Style Dining: Children sit together and learn to serve themselves from small, manageable serving dishes. This builds independence, communication, and cooperation in a warm, social setting.
- Building Healthy Habits: Our educators act as enthusiastic role models, helping children develop a positive attitude toward a wide variety of foods.
- Hands-on Learning: Inspired by the Kitchen Garden program, our little chefs engage in safe, age-appropriate cooking activities. From counting ingredients to understanding the farm-to-table concept, every meal is a discovery.

A Deep Dive into Infant Nutrition
For our youngest learners, we provide meticulous, age-appropriate nutrition. Our approach is informed by the Victorian Health Department’s guidelines for infants and toddlers. We support their developmental journey by:
- Introducing Textures: We move quickly from purees to minced, chopped, and lumpy textures to help infants develop their oral motor skills, such as chewing.
- Providing Iron-Rich Foods: From around 6 months of age, we introduce iron-containing foods like pureed meat, chicken, and legumes to meet their increasing nutritional needs.
- Maintaining Purity: We strictly avoid adding salt, sugar, or honey to infant foods and only offer breast milk, formula, or tap water as a main drink for children under 12 months.
Our Community, Our Kitchen: Partnering with You
We believe in a strong partnership between home and centre. The menu is displayed in our foyer and classrooms, and we encourage parents to become involved in menu planning. We also provide daily meal updates via our parent communication app, giving you a seamless connection to your child’s day.
Have a family recipe you’d like to share? If it fits our nutritional goals, we’ll happily add it to our menu! Simply share it with our team at enrolment or any time throughout the year.
